Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) beef steak (flank, sirloin, or strip), thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 carrot, sliced
- 1/2 cup snow peas
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: sesame seeds, green onions for garnish
For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water or beef broth
Instructions:
- 1. In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Mix well and set aside to marinate for about 15-20 minutes.
- 2. In a separate bowl, whisk together all the ingredients for the sauce: soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey or brown sugar, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water or beef broth. Set aside.
- 3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- 4. Add the marinated beef slices to the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- 5. In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed, then add the sliced onion, bell pepper, broccoli, carrot, and snow peas. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- 6. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and pour the prepared sauce over the meat and vegetables. Stir well to coat everything evenly.
- 7. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly and the beef is heated through.
- 8. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if necessary.
- 9. Serve the beef and vegetable stir-fry hot over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
