Ingredients:
- -2 cups of sushi rice -3 cups of water -1/2 cup rice vinegar -1 teaspoon salt -A variety of sushi fish (such as salmon, tuna, and yellowfin), cut into thin slices -Various fruits (such as mango, avocado, and strawberries) cut into thin slices -Nori sheets (seaweed), cut into thin strips -Sesame seeds, for garnish -Soy sauce, for serving -Pickled ginger, for serving
Instructions:
1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions, using the 3 cups of water. Once cooked, let it cool slightly.
2. In a small saucepan, combine the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Heat over low heat until the sugar and salt dissolve. Remove from heat and let it cool.
3. Once the rice has cooled to room temperature, gently fold in the seasoned vinegar mixture until well combined. Be careful not to mash the rice.
4. Line the bottom of a round cake pan with plastic wrap. Press the sushi rice evenly into the pan, creating a flat surface.
5. Arrange the thinly sliced fish and fruits on top of the rice, alternating between layers. You can get creative with the arrangement, creating patterns or designs.
6. Carefully remove the sushi cake from the pan by lifting the edges of the plastic wrap. Transfer it to a serving plate.
7. Decorate the sushi cake with nori strips and sesame seeds for garnish.
- 8. Serve slices of the sushi cake with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.
